Jorge is a veteran who served in the U.S. Marines. When he was honorably discharged after the Iraq War, he took his lifelong love of gardening and turned it into his dream job. Bringing people joy through landscaping has become his passion. Jorge has a horticulture and gardening certificate from UCLA.
Nargess met Jorge when they were both stationed in Basrah. She was a communications officer in the British army. She has a degree in communications from the University of the Arts London and an associate's degree in business administration from San Diego Mesa College. She has a passion for plants and peace.
Martha is a native San Diegan. She has worked in sales and marketing in a variety of areas including Massy Ford, JC Penny, and the city of La Mesa. She has a degree in advertising from UCLA.
Angelica discovered the beauties of San Diego when she was a teenager. Several years later, she finally had to the chance to move here. She has a degree in accounting from Kansas State University.
Prior to joining Nurtured Vistas, Deljia spent seven years as an associate architect, bringing landscape architecture capabilities to a San Francisco architecture office recognized nationally for urban design, planning, and housing design. She has taught extensively at the University of California, Davis in the Department of Landscape Architecture and at the Vienna University of Technology in the Department of Architecture. She has written articles in international journals and speaks regularly about contemporary landscapes and their relationship to architecture and infrastructure. She has a Master of Architecture, University of California, Berkeley and a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture, University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Vienna Austria. She is a registered architect in the state of California.
Kurt has been thriving in the landscape design field for twenty years in the San Diego area. He was the lead designer at California Smartscape, where he designed, managed, and implemented both large and midsize projects throughout the San Diego area. This included gardens, masonry, carpentry, outdoor kitchens, lighting, and irrigation. Prior to moving to the west coast, Kurt worked as an Environmental Education Instructor at Shelburne Farms, a 1400-acre national historic site in Shelburne, Vermont. During this time, he also worked with various landscape design establishments in the central Vermont area. Kurt holds a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from Rollins College and a Master of Arts in Landscape Design and Land Use Planning from the Conway School of Landscape Design. He has been an American Society for Horticultural Science (ASHS) Certified Horticulturist since 1998.
Jeff has been in the construction industry for more than 20 years. He has worked on projects of a wide variety of scope, including the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System and UCSD Thornton Hospital.
Victor grew up in the redwoods of Northern California. It was there he learned to love and care for trees and shrubs. He got a degree in recreation and park management from Sacramento State and became a park ranger. Victor is our tree expert.
Salizar is a native San Diegan and spent many years as a excavation foreman on the Hoover Dam Interchange Bridge in Nevada. He also worked for the California Department of Transportation (CalTrans). Salizar loves to move dirt.
Ernesto was displaced from the New Jersey shore after Superstorm Sandy. He brought lots of moxie to California along with his family. He has a deep and abiding love for all things green. He's affectionately known as "Mr. Fix It" as he as an answer for any drainage, electrical, or mechanical problem.
